Yeppoon Main Beach

The Yeppoon Lagoon, The Keppel Kraken and much more!

The Yeppoon Main Beach has come a long way since I was a kid. Honestly the Yeppoon Lagoon is fancy. The lagoon is only a part of it, it’s a big part but there are now public lounge chairs all along the beach front, updated amphitheatre, the Keppel Kraken plus the nicest and cleanest public toilets I’ve ever seen. There is a lot of good things going on at the beach.

There is street art spaning the beachfront too from some funny characters on the Surf Life Saving Club building to the cool faces on the loo block near the Yeppoon Lagoon. Downtown Yeppoon has lots of street art hidden and not so hidden around town but we will hit those up in another blog.

Let’s get back to the Yeppoon Lagoon! Who doesn’t love things that rhythm? This public aka FREE pool rivals any other. It’s like a resort pool! And the view! Okay you can probably tell I think it is cool. The lagoon is such a haven especially if it is low tide or there is southerly wind blowing that is churning up the ocean and you don’t want to swim at the beach, the lagoon is always perfect.

It’s a great place for families too; there are life guards on duty all the time plus it is not too deep and there is so many different areas in the lagoon to you don’t feel like you are on top of each other. Maybe not on a long weekend but still. There’s a kiosk too or there are public BBQs not too far away. Oh, and there is a ramp entry too making it easy for everyone to enjoy and a kid’s water play area. The skate park is right there too, look there is lot to keep every family member occupied.

Back to water play areas, the Keppel Kraken located smack bang in the middle of the Main Beach is one epic place. It has a tonne of different play areas for little kids to big kids. There are heaps of tables and seats too. Oh, and this is free too. Look Yeppoon has it going on at the moment.

What I like most about the beach front is that people use it. Every Wednesday and Saturday morning Lure Living hosts yoga in the amphitheatre, I’ve been quite a few times, it is a lovely way to start your day. At the north end of the main beach is a public workout space with a bunch of different equipment, I am also a regular down there. The beachfront is used for nearly every major event on the Yeppoon social calendar. Just off the top of my head there is the Australia Day Beach Party, Anzac Day Ceremony, The Village Festival, Pine Fest, Carols by the Beach plus countless sporting events and fundraises.

We are very lucky to have such a space to enjoy and relax. Not many communities can boast as much as us. We don’t mind sharing, come and visit anytime!

Yeppoon

Main Beach

There are several good beaches in the area, with the main Yeppoon Beach, site of the surf lifesaving club, located at the end of the main shopping street. The beach is 1.4 km long, extending from the low intertidal rocks at Spring Head almost due south to the mouth of Ross Creek, where there is a small breakwater.

The Yeppoon Lagoon

The Yeppoon Lagoon is the jewel in the crown of the Yeppoon foreshore precinct. The 2500 square-metre resort style lagoon pool is located right on the beach front and includes a shallow children’s play area, an informal lap swimming area and a swim-up infinity edge with stunning views over the Keppel Islands.
